Premier League Kicks has been delivered across a number of communities since 2016. Funded on a three-year cycle by the Premier League Charitable Fund, CitC work to use the power of football and the value of sports participation to help youngsters in some of the most high-need areas across the city. Young people are engaged through constructive activities including a wide range of sports, coaching, music, educational and personal development sessions.
The project has the aim of inspiring young people to make positive change within their community. In addition to tackling antisocial behaviour, the project also works to increase female participation in the game with specific sessions. Within the project there are sessions designed to include young people who may live with a disability. Sessions are delivered in Bettws, Duffryn, Alway, Newport Centre and a Ringland session that’s funded through the Gwent Police and Crime Commission budget.
