The CiTC college education provision offers participants the chance to study towards a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Applied Sport based at Llanwern High School. Having achieved this, students can then further develop their knowledge of the coaching industry by progressing on to the Foundation Degree in Community Football.
Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced, small sided modified form of football, played with five players per side on a smaller, typically indoor, pitch.It is widely played across the world and is officially recognised by both UEFA and FIFA.
The EFL Futsal & Education programme offers participants between the age of 16 and 18 the opportunity to participate every other Wednesday in the EFL National League Futsal competition as seen on Sky Sports Soccer AM regularly over the past year. This is held in Birmingham and Cardiff and features teams from as far afield as Exeter and Grimsby.
BTEC Level 3 Qualification
Over a two-year period, participants study for the BTEC Level 3 qualification in Applied Sport based at Llanwern High School. Alongside their studies, the students also train for at least 6 hours per week and have the opportunity to play a good standard of football in various competitions.
Foundation Degree in Community Football
The Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development is overseen by the EFL Trust and run in partnership with the University of South Wales. It provides an opportunity to gain an industry-recognised coaching award while being affiliated with a specific football club. This unique football coaching course has been designed to identify the type of skills and qualities that are required to work within the community departments of professional football clubs or national governing bodies in areas of growth such as social inclusion, community coaching and football development.
